Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of United States. She is also the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and also as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her career began with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who worked for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
