Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an excellent household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran claims her father was a drunken man who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an area Catholic elementary school before beginning high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after having failed several classes during her first year of high school.
